“Swamp Witch”
26x36 acrylic on canvas. 2021.

I feel like I’ve finally found that happy medium between drawing and painting with this piece. I’m trying to experiment more with drips and gradients in between the underpainting and the line work. I’m going to keep pushing further on the next one. I want to thank jamesjeanart for actually taking the time respond to a question I had about how to get a super smooth canvas. No more jittery lines from rough canvas! It was an honor especially as I’ve been VERY inspired by his work lately. And thanks to myself for figuring out a hack to put golden high flow acrylic into rapidiograph pens. I’ve never had the brush control for teeny tiny lines.

This is another narrative piece where I’m not exactly sure what’s happening. Some sort of future ruin dystopian swamp with a pig a starring at naked woman exploding into drips. Idk what’s going on. I’d love to hear theory’s.

This piece and a few of my other paintings will be on display and available at gamutgallerympls for their “Singula” group show (along with several other AMAZING artists from Mpls , Chicago and Mexico). Opening July 16th. Come through! It’s going to be fun!
